One of my most wonderful
discoveries this year was the creative talent of “Charly”,
a sweet 15-year old
high school student from Leipzig, Germany,
whose real name is Charlotte.
The
Charente-Dordogne region is her second home.
Every summer of her young life, Charly has spent her holidays in our area
together with her father Matthias, a journalist and Lutheran pastor,
her mother Svetlana, a Bulgarian-born high school teacher,
and her two years older sister Clara.
This time my "Leipzig Family"...
...and their gregarious eldest daughter Clara...

....cutting Lavender...
...and making lots of lovely bunches...

...while Charly, a tall and beautiful, rather quiet young lady,
walked about aimlessly...or so it seemed...
when not swimming, reading or "hiding" in the coolness of the house....

Then last week, before they returned to Germany on Friday,
Svetlana emailed me a spectacular gift:
A set of photographs 15 year old Charly took while wandering around my garden.
I was so thunderstruck by their beauty demonstrating Charly’s artistic sense
that I decided to share them with my readers.
