Oh Happy Days...

...after weeks and weeks of rain,

...grayness, cold...

...and darkness,

finally, last Sunday - a glimmer of light on the horizon

and then...
and then - it went warmer each day,

now the sun is here!

 Oh Happy Day!

While these tulips are saying 'goodbye'....

....there are suddenly allover new buds,

...blossoms...

my German peony "Bauernrose"  (farmers rose)

It's flowering nearly on every corner...

Rhododendron

the air is filled with ...oh...mmmhm.....a jasmine-like scent...

...of the Mock orange "Syringa"  -  Philadelphus

And the tree peony...!

now ready for her last 'performance'...

in full Beauty!

I'm always fascinated by observing the development of buds...

*

 three days of sun....

...and here we are!

with all the rain....the lavender is doing fine and was never as green like this year!

Oh Happy Days!

working in the garden, weeding, tiding up, planting, more pruning.....

working with my Old Linen, preparing next Linen post,

deciding what will be for sale...

...like this French linen Drap with a very charming monogram,
a lovely embroidery of lilies of the valley, just right for the month of May.

A lot to do, but I must say
  I love  all  the work!!!

and let it "rock".....

Wish you all many Happy Days!

  10. Dear Karin, after a few misadventures, I seem to have acquired the knack for this blogging business! I am now following your blog, and what a treat it is going to be! There is a poignancy in viewing the spring blooming flowers, especially the Iris and Peonies. I also must comment on the chickadees exploring their world of wings and, whoops, over they go. Cute as can be!
So happy the sun chose to give you his blessings. He can be pretty fickle!

I sit on, and look at, my lovely linen fabric. I try to imagine a woman embroidering the monograms, washing and folding the material...it's a real piece of history I now have in my home. I can understand how collecting can become addicting!

I'll be ordering my second piece in a few weeks, and keeping an eye open for new pieces on your blog.

...so delighted to have 'found' you!

The tree peony is stunning and the mock orange one of my favorite scented shrubs. We have all been busy getting this best of seasons underway....so much to do, but so rewarding! I wish you a wonderful weekend, and nourishing garden time! N.xo
