"The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.
The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on."

  1. Dear Karin,
What beautiful Autumnal images and, the mist is just an added bonus. It adds so much mystery.
.....and, I'm so sorry that I missed your last 'By Invitation' post .......it was wonderful as always. The next one is almost upon us....they seem to come round so quickly. I will look out for yours. I just don't seem as organised with my new computer......I think I'm still getting used to it.
    Happy December Karin. XXXX

  3. Le Périgord is one of France's best kept secrets... or at least it used to be, outside of Europe :-) Half my family lives there, and they will never move. They know how good they have it. What part of le Perigord do you live in? Noir? Blanc? Pourpre? Vert? Thank you for this beautiful collection of photos. It makes me feel like going back soon. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  5. The misty morn photos fill me with an aching beauty and the clear blue sky photos fill me with energy! Gorgeous, all of them.
I'd buy that house in a flash if I could.

It's been a long time! Hope you are doing well!! Yes, I'm interested in that beautiful home....think I need to start selling a lot more Swedish antiques first :) Thank you for all the gorgeous photos.....like a fairy tale. Have a wonderful holiday season ahead.

  7. Dear Karin

Your images of November are so beautiful and one wishes it not end. The long shadows are so beautiful at this time of year. The last clinging leaves and berries are like a stubborn child. Your corner of the world is very beautiful.

  11. Thank you for this, Karin. I feel refreshed just looking at your photos.....sigh. I'd love that yellow country house. Well, maybe if I win the lottery. :)

Love that Thomas Hood autumn poem too. My first time reading it, but I'll remember.

  12. Your photos are food for my weary soul! Think I'll go back and just look at them for a while. Thank you for the present of them.

  13. So beautiful, even in a bleak season. The landscape and the human artifacts in them, including the human activities that shaped those landscapes. How kind of you to gather beauty for those of us in harsher places.
And how clever to find a poem by Emily Dickinson that was totally unknown to me!
The only bittersweet note: you make me so nostalgic for France ---

  14. Bonjour, Karin! J'adore the quiet, mist morning photos! We've enjoyed some beautiful misty mornings in our new setting. Not sure if you know, but we moved from a very urban setting in Houston to a small farm in Franklin, Tennessee. (A small town just south of Nashville.) Nothing compares to the countryside in France, but this is close!

    Hugs!
    Linsey
