And tomorrow is Christmas!

Still, still, still,
weil's Kindlein schlafen will.

Die Englein tun schön jubilieren,
Bei dem Kripplein musizieren,

Northern Italian painter and sculptor of the Renaissance (c.1471 - 1546)

Fresco in Santa Maria dei Miracoli, Saronno, Italy

Still, still, still,
Weil's Kindlein schlafen will.

*
Schlaf, schlaf, schlaf!
Mein liebes Kindlein schlaf!
Maria tut dich niedersingen
und ihr treues Herz darbringen....

Schlaf, schlaf, schlaf!
Mein liebes Kindlein schlaf!

Sleep - sleep - sleep! Only one more night...

...denn einmal werden wir noch wach, Heissa, dann ist Weihnacht da!

Dreams and Illusions - Blog Party - Chapter 3

I´m  dreaming  of ....

 being an Eagle.....

...an Eagle in Mongolia,

...loved...

...honored...

...and well kept...

...by an Eagle Hunter...

......

....but being free...

....to fly, border-less...

...and right up to the sky!

*

Illusion

When I heard about today's theme,
Ry Cooder's song "Across the border line"
crossed my mind:

There’s a place where I’ve been told
Every street is paved with gold
And it’s just across the borderline
And when it’s time to take your turn
Here’s one lesson that you must learn
You could lose more than you’ll ever hope to find

When you reach the broken promised land
And every dream slips through your hands
Then you’ll know that it’s too late to change your mind
’Cause you’ve paid the price to come so far
Just to wind up where you are
And you’re still just across the borderline

Up and down the Rio Grande
A thousand footprints in the sand
Reveal a secret no one can define
The river flows on like a breath
In between our life and death
Tell me who’s the next to cross the borderline

En la triste oscuridad
Hoy tenemos que cruzar
Este río que nos llama más allá

But hope remains when pride is gone
And it keeps you moving on
Calling you across the borderline

When you reach the broken promised land
Every dream slips through your hands
And you’ll know it’s too late to change your mind

’Cause you pay the price to come so far
Just to wind up where you are

Now you’re still just across the borderline

In utter stillness, the bright light,
pervading all, enfolds the great void.
Worldly things, when closely looked at,
are like illusions in a dream.

I have reached and received so much in my life,
more than I've ever dreamed....

...and keep my

   Vision  and  Hope  up...

... that the dreams come true

for  all those people in the world
who are daily battling for a better life.

January the 16th.....

A very good Sunday....

We had an "old" Irish friend for lunch,
"Strohwitwer" (grass widower) at the moment.....
and
talked about the good days in Dublin..

****
Lunch carried on until nearly 4 o'clock !

...and then I had to rush out to catch the light....

wild plum tree

our oldest walnut tree

I love our trees without leaves...they are like 'statues'

Judas tree

Late afternoon sun shadows - playing with the olive trees

The 200 year old Yew tree, today without snow!

..by five o'clock they still went on chatting along....

"D'you remember Jem?..."Do I remember???...will I ever forget!!!"

....it was about time for a good Irish Malt Whiskey..
and...

"As I remember Dublin.....

....it's just the ghost of dear old Dublin in my tears....
.....No, I can't forget old Dublin in my tears....

....Fare well to dear old Dublin"

...and one Malt more for the road.

Remark: "Dublin in my tears" from THE DUBLINERS
For many people THE DUBLINERS are the true symbol of Dublin.
Through their humour and song over the last 30 years,
they have given Dublin and its music a special place in the hearts of the people of Ireland.
They have spread the city's fame and songs to all corners of the universe.

Photos taken today between 4 and 5 o'clock with my 'non-professional' camera,
the light was just incredible!

Lyrics

Abba Heitschi Bumbeitschi.....

When I was very little my mother used to sing this old song for me.  Each year, especially around Christmas, I sing it to myself and it brings back my mother to me.  It is written in Austrian dialect and does not translate very well.

Abba heitschi bumbeitschi, schlaf lange,
es is ja dei Muatterl ausgange,
Sie is ja ausgange und kimmt nimma hoam
und lasst des kloa Buabale ganz alloan.
Abba heitschi bumbeitschi bumbum,
Abba hetischi bumbeitschi bumbum.

Abba heitschi bumbeitschi, schlaf sueasse,
die Engelein lass'n di gruess'n!
Sie lassen di gruess'n und lass'n frag'n,
ob sie des kloa Buable umanander soll'n trag'n.
Abba heitschi bumbeitschi bumbum,
Abba heitschi bumbeitschi bumbum.

Aber heitschi bumbeitschi im Himm'l,
da fuehrt di a schneeweisser Schimm'l,
drauf sitzt a kloans Engerl mit oana Latern,
drein leuchtet vom Himm'l der allerschoenst' Stern.
Abba heitschi bumbeitschi bumbum,
Abba heitschi bumbeitschi bumbum.

*****

Und da Heitschi-Bumbeitschi is kumma
und hot ma mei Bueabal mitgnumma.
Er hot mir's mitgnumma und hot's nimma 'bracht.
Drum wuensch i meim Bueabal a recht guate Nacht.
Abba heitschi bumbeitschi bumbum,
Abba heitschi bumbeitschi bumbum.

A 'heavily modified' English version, I quite like:

I kiss your sweet little head while you're sleeping
Just a few moments more then I'm leaving
I'll miss you, my baby, it's making me cry
So I'll whisper these sweet words instead of good-bye
Refrain:
Aba Heidschi Bumbeidschi Bum Bum,
Aba Heidschi Bumbeidschi Bum Bum.

There is some kind of magic about you
Can't imagine how we got by without you
You made us a family that wonderful night
Now like three candles burning
love is three times as bright.
Aba Heidschi Bumbeidschi Bum Bum,
Aba Heidschi Bumbeidschi Bum Bum.

Now for just one last time let me hold you
And remember what your Daddy has told you
And if you're unhappy when I am away
To make it all better you know what you say.
Aba Heidschi Bumbeidschi Bum Bum,
Aba Heidschi Bumbeidschi Bum Bum.

Anmerkung:
There are several different versions of this traditional song, which originated
in Bohemian Austria (Suedtirol) in the 18th century.
